Hosted by Orifice Vulgatron, the night’s line-up will feature truly world class, and in some case exclusive, performances. The event is part of BEast, a year round collaborative project hosted by grassroots, community based organisation, Community Music, which supports emerging musicians working in modern, urban music genres through showcasing, networking and training opportunities. CM provides, seminars for new musicians, free rehearsal space and a series of industry workshops for the youth in London, focusing on music and drawing in representatives from Soundcloud, Sunday Best and other industry professionals to advise young people.
As part of the programme, BEast works with a variety of artists and musicians, from young and emerging DJs, vocalists and musicians through to more experienced and developing artists. Funded by the Arts Council, the project is steered by a creative group including Bobby Friction (BBC Asian Network, MTV), Nerm (Shiva Soundsystem/BBC 6Music) and the Nasha Experience. The flagship BEast event is part celebration of the BEast panels and part focus on the rich musical heritage of East London. All of the acts chosen are very diverse in their musical range, centering around the concept of six gigs in six months which showcase the best, cutting edge electronica, live bands and performances.
Comments Maricia Klincke, Managing Director, CM, “BEast @ XOYO is a major event showcasing some of the most exciting music on the East London music scene at the moment. For CM, it is a landmark event in a long history of working with and supporting new and developing artists, beginning with Asian Dub Foundation back in the nineties to the exciting, dynamic artists of today such as Shiva Soundsystem and the Nasha Experience.
The BEast project has also allowed us the opportunity to work with new and upcoming artists and musicians and showcase them alongside their more established peers. We would like to thank the Arts Council for their support in making this work possible, and look forward to developing the BEast Fest in 2013.”
